We are sorry for the inconvenience that this will undoubtedly cause our passengers. Normally we are focused on making everyone’s journey in to and out of central London as quick and easy as possible. But we are sure you will agree this is a necessary step at this time for everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

The Situation
Out of the blue London City Airport has announced that with immediate effect they will be halting operations. The closure of the airport is expected to last at least until the end of April. This is of course due to the Covid-19 crisis that is unfolding across the world. Which is hitting particularly hard the aviation industry.

London City Airport serves mainly the business districts of the British capital. Many businessmen used the airport to get on short haul flights that would connect them with most of Europe’s main airports. With Covid-19 corporate travel has suffered a significant hit as well. In an effort to try to reduce the spread of the desease the UK Government has decided to close non essential hubs in the country.
The Other Airports
The other two main hubs that serve London (Heathrow and Gatwick) remain open for service. However, as the airlines have significantly reduced their operations passenger numbers almost down to 0 in both airports. In other words, the airports remain open but with almost no operations from and to them.
