Delta To Launch New Tokyo Haneda to Honolulu Service in October 2023

Delta Air Lines is all set to launch the latest addition to its route network. The new service will connect Tokyo’s city international airport of Haneda with Honolulu in Hawaii. So let’s take a closer look at how the flight will operate and its details.

Tokyo To Honolulu Flight Returning to Delta’s Network

This particular route has been one that had gone missing with covid. Delta had stopped operating connections between Honolulu and Tokyo in March 2020. That is when the carrier switched all of its operations over to Tokyo Haneda Airport from Tokyo Narita. That is also, unfortunately, when covid struck and brought the entire aviation industry to a halt.

Therefore this is a much anticipated return to the Delta Air Lines route network. The flight will start operations from October 28th 2023, with it being a daily service from day one.

The Delta Flight DL180 Tokyo to Honolulu Schedule

The timing of this flight is quite an interesting one. The flight departs in the evening and arrives in the morning of the same day. This is not some crazy time travel trick but just an effect of flying eastwards over the international date line.

The Plane for The New DL180 Service From Tokyo to Honolulu

The route won’t be served by any of the newer Delta Air Lines planes. The plane chosen for the sector is one of the oldest types in the fleet, the Boeing 767-300ER. Delta’s 767 fleet age clocks in at an average 25.6 years, however these planes feature modern cabins. So they might be old on the outside but are still quite young on the inside.

The particular Boeing 767s Delta will be deploying on the Tokyo to Honolulu sector are setup with a 3 class (almost 4 class) configuration. Each 767-300ER features:

  • 26 Business Class Flat Bed Delta One Seats. These seats are Thompson Aerospace Vantage design, in a 1-2-1 layout.
  • 18 Premium Economy Delta Premium Select Seats. These seats are Collins MiQ design, in a 2-2-2 layout.
  • 21 Delta Comfort+ Extra Space Economy Seats. These seats are in a 2-3-2 layout.
  • 151 Economy Class Seats in a 2-3-2 layout.

Also the plane is equipped with WiFi connectivity and the IFE features HBO, Hulu and Showtime content.
